Frequently Asked Questions

We aren't good in front of the camera, will you help?

Of course! This is a super common concern, and it's why I prioritise shooting candid photos as much as possible. While experience has taught me how to blend into a crowd and capture natural moments as they happen, I still like to set up some photos throughout the day. For those, I'll direct your positions and help bring out your best side by encouraging you to interact with each other.

What happens if you get sick or can't make it?

In 15 years I haven't missed a single wedding. If for any reason I need to back out, I'll offer you the choice between a replacement photographer that I trust for no extra charge, or a full refund.

Is analog film safe for shooting a wedding?

I've been meticulous in preparing my gear and workflow for this, and haven't lost a single shot across my weddings to date. To ensure redundancy, I bring 4 cameras, spare batteries for each, and double the amount of film I'll actually shoot. Compared to digital where a memory card containing thousands of images can fail, the absolute worst case is losing 36 images from a 35mm roll.

Do we still get digital copies?

Of course - all images I shoot on the day are scanned. The shots that I select and process are delivered to you in high resolution format (for print) and web resolution format (for social media and online).

Do we get fewer photos compared to digital photographers?

I've set up my analog workflow to provide roughly the same amount of delivered images as I did while shooting digital - approx 150-300 depending on the package. Digital photographers can deliver thousands, but be wary, you'll end up with tons of duplicates and a headache of which ones to choose. Curating the best single image from each scene captured is tedious and a skill in of itself. It's not a burden I want you to have while you should simply enjoy reliving the memories from the day.

If we get video in our package, do we get fewer photos?

No! The gorgeous super 8 video footage is captured by my colleague Doug, not me. I'll shoot the same amount of photos I always do.

We have big families, do you have enough film for group photos?

Yep. Running through group photos can be surprisingly stressful, so I always plan these in advance with my couples. I'll dedicate 1-2 rolls of film depending on the amount you need.

How long until we get the photos?

The maximum delivery time is 6 weeks, inclusive of the photo album, digital scans and developed negatives.

Do we get a quick look?

Yes! I order priority scans for 1 or 2 rolls of film depending on your package. You can pick the parts of the day I take these rolls from, but I usually suggest the ceremony and/or bridal party shoot. You'll receive a link to selected scans 1-2 working days after the wedding so you can announce your news in style.

What should we do with the negatives? Do we need to keep them?

The negatives are an additional back up of your wedding photos and a rare physical souvenir from the day itself. They provide the option for you to have true photographic prints made at certain labs that use the traditional projection method, or even to have them rescanned decades into the future where scanning technology will continue to improve. It's totally up to you whether to keep them or dump them!
